What is the ASCD?
The ASCD, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, was established in 1943. Today it has a total of 125,000 members. It is a non-profit organization that strives to empower teachers and leaders in education across 138 countries.
Learn. Teach. Lead.
This is their motto. They offer a variety of membership levels, at a cost, but the current information they share is well worth the cost. The most recent addition offering professional support is an online learning community called, ASCD EDge.
The ASCD membership and ASCD EDge are two different offerings. The paid ASCD membership offers resources, information, and conferences, while the ASCD EDge is a free, interactive community for educators and leaders in education.
Think of it as a professional Facebook-like platform, but better.
